How it is calculated

  • rental cost = TH/s × price × hours / 24
  • blocks per TH/s per day = 86,400 × 1012 / (difficulty × 232)
  • average blocks = TH/s × hours / 24 × blocks per TH/s per day
  • chance of at least one block = 1 − e−average blocks
  • share of network = TH/s / network hashrate

Difficulty and network hashrate come from the XBT network via TideHash's public API; the default price is the live TideHash base price. The order form shows the exact total before you pay.

Read this before you rent

  • Expected value, not a forecast: short rentals find blocks in lumps (variance is large below a day). The average above is what you would see over many rentals like this, not what one rental will do.
  • On a solo port, most short rentals find no block. Only rent what you can afford to lose.
  • On a shared pool, your share of the pool's work is what counts, and the pool's own payout rules apply.
  • Newly mined XBT can't be spent right away: coinbase maturity rules apply, and the chain has had temporary longer locks. Check the current rules with your pool before you rent.
  • Difficulty and price change fast on a young chain.

See XBT mining pools compared for pools and solo ports, and rent hashrate to your DATUM gateway if you run your own node.
