DATUM

Rent Blake2b hashrate to your own DATUM gateway

If you run your own Bitcoin Knots node and DATUM gateway for XBT (BTCB2), you can send rented Blake2b hashrate straight to it. Rented and owned hashrate connect the same way: miners point at the gateway, and the gateway points at your pool.

Why use your own gateway

With DATUM, your own node builds the block template, so you choose the transactions in the blocks your hashrate works on, and the pool only handles payouts. Many XBT pools are DATUM-only, so a gateway is often the most reliable way to use rented hashrate.

Set it up in four steps

Step 1: Make the gateway reachable

Your DATUM gateway's stratum port for miners (23334 by default, per the chain's miners guide) must be reachable from the internet, because the rented hashrate connects from our servers, not from your local network. Open or forward that port only, and keep the gateway's web dashboard private.

Step 2: Enter the gateway in the order form

In the TideHash order form, set Pool URL to your gateway's public host and miners port, for example your-gateway-ip:23334. Enter only host:port; the stratum+tcp:// part is added for you.

Step 3: Set the pool user and password

Use the username format your gateway and pool expect, for example youraccount::rig01 as in our pool settings guide, and x as the password unless your setup says otherwise.

Step 4: Pay and watch the shares arrive

Pay for the order. Once it is confirmed, the hashrate connects to your gateway; check the accepted shares in your gateway's dashboard and in your private order link.

# TideHash order form
Pool URL:  your-gateway-ip:23334
Pool user: youraccount::rig01
Password:  x

# datum_gateway config (gateway to pool), example: RIPTIDE
"pool_host": "riptide.maveth.ca",
"pool_port": 29120

The pool's DATUM endpoint goes in the gateway's config, not in the order form. The exact values for each pool are in our pool settings guide and on the pool's own connection page.

Troubleshooting

  • No shares arriving: check that the miners port is open to the internet (a firewall or missing port forward is the most common cause) and that the host in the order form is your public address, not a local one like 192.168.x.x.
  • Shares rejected: check the gateway's minimum difficulty settings and the pool's requirements; rented hashrate arrives at full speed from the start.
  • Wrong payout: rewards go to the address your pool and gateway are configured for. Double-check it before the order starts.
  • Need to change something: you can change the pool from your private order link; the new pool is tested before the switch.

Partner pool

We work together with the RIPTIDE pool (tides.maveth.ca), which accepts DATUM connections. You can send your hashrate to any pool you like.

Send rented hashrate to your gatewayPick a speed, a price and a duration. The minimum order is $10.
